Today I closed my eyes
And thought of You.

You reminded me
Of all the best things in life.

You pushed and pulled my heart.
You tore it,
& You stitched it back together,
& You wore it on Your bracelet
& I loved it.

A ray of sun washed over me.
I heard a chime,
And when I looked,
You stood there.

I haven't seen You in so long now,
But I'll be okay.
I'll remember how much You mean to me.

unseelie is extremely proud to present Himera’s “More Than Friends,” the 17-year-old artist’s latest EP, and most ambitious project to date. Over a year in the making, this record is the artist’s attempt at honoring the friends that hold a special place in their life. Thematically, the record reflects on the strange, chimerical, and beautiful pathways that platonic friendships can take. Thus the title, “More Than Friends,” which refers to platonic relationships that are so special and powerful one can feel underserved by the very words used to describe them.

Musically, this EP is an immaculately produced and realized vision of trance: its language is all supersaws and sine waves, but what coheres is much greater than the sum of its parts - imbuing the spirit of keepsakecore. Although largely lyric-less, the emotive heft is utterly legible. Every enormous, arena-ready chord on this record is instant smile-so-hard-it-hurts, heart-swelling material; this is the sound of bikes on the pavement late at night, or warm wind, or memories of a summer forever ago.

Himera is the project name of Daniil Masterov, born to a Russian family and raised in Ireland.
